A Bad Day for Warwickshire - Lib Dems deplore decision to close three Fire Stations

Liberal Democrat councillors joined forces with Labour members of Warwickshire County Council today in a joint bid to stop the Conservative Cabinet's proposal to close three Warwickshire Fire Stations - Brinklow, Studley and Warwick. Their combined amendment debated at today's crucial County Council meeting would have maintained all nineteen current fire stations, while providing alternative ways of financing the other aspects of the improvement plan put forward by the Chief Fire Officer.

No Fire Station Closures - Lib Dems state their position ahead of Council debate

"The Lib Dems are not going to support any version of the current plan to close Fire Stations in Warwickshire", said Liberal Democrat group leader Cllr Jerry Roodhouse ahead of Tuesday's crucial vote at the County Council on the Warwickshire Fire & Rescue Service.

Royal Mail error affects election communications in new constituency

Liberal Democrat organisers in the new parliamentary constituency of Kenilworth and Warwick have learned that a serious error by Royal Mail has meant that the wrong candidate leaflets have been distributed across parts of the constituency. And with only days to go the Royal Mail now has little time in which to correct their error, leaving the party fuming.

Nigel Rock attended the home coming of 2nd Battalion Royal Regiment of Fusiliers on Wednesday (21st April) as they paraded through the streets of Kenilworth. Watching from among the crowd he saw for himself the genuine warmth towards the soldiers returning after their tour of duty in Afghanistan.
