"Air Quality in Rugby Worsens" says Lib Dem Councillor

10.12.12am BST (GMT +0100) Mon 13th Sep 2004

Rugby Council is proposing to declare the town as an air quality management zone because of worsening air quality mainly due to traffic.

Liberal Democrat Councillors have consistently called for a Citizens Jury to tackle traffic issues and especially how we can find ways of improving our air quality.

"The talking goes on and no action takes place to tackle this ever increasing problem. The council is failing in its duty of well being " said Councillor Jerry Roodhouse, who has been at the forefront of proposals that would involve local people about the future of their area.

"Rugby is yet again dragging its feet over the matter of tackling traffic congestion, and the report agenda item 17 for cabinet on the 22nd September clearly shows the health consequences that we have to live with."
