Bring Back Park Wardens

12.35.45pm BST (GMT +0100) Mon 4th Oct 2004

Rugby Liberal Democrats are calling for the reintroduction of Park Wardens to help support local communities.

Rugby Borough Council has problems around the locking of play areas and is relying on local people to carry out this work, as stated in a report going to Cabinet item 23.

Liberal Democrat Councillor Jerry Roodhouse said: "The council has an opportunity to tackle anti social behaviour and work with the police by re introducing Park Wardens who can lock play areas and act as local support for the Police in tackling an ever increasing problem. I am sure that the Borough Council should be investigating this now".

More and more local areas are seeking a locked play area. By introducing a warden service Liberal Democrats believe we will be looking after our local communities
