Still Fighting For Kenilworth Station4.27.00pm GMT Wed 1st Nov 2006
An important success for Kenilworth Liberal Democrats this week. The Department for Transport (DfT) has just published a consultation document this week for the New Cross Country rail franchise specification, and in pride of place was a statement recognising the 521-signature petition organised by the Lib Dems earlier this year. Councillor John Whitehouse (Liberal Democrat, Kenilworth Abbey) said: "It's great to see that the DfT had more feedback on the need for a Kenilworth station than all the rest of the replies put together, and that our petition figured so prominently. The bidders for the new rail franchise cannot ignore the question now - they will have to address it in framing their bids. Liberal Democrats are still leading the fight for a Kenilworth station, and we won't take 'No' for an answer!"
