Liberal Democrat County Councillor John Whitehouse (Kenilworth Abbey) has won the agreement of the County Council to reduce on-street car parking charges in Kenilworth town centre for short stay drivers. A new 30p rate for a half hour stay will be introduced in Bertie Road and Station Road from 15th December.

The closure of the Talisman Square car park during the building of the new Waitrose store has caused big problems, in particular for users of Kenilworth Nursery School and the Bertie Road doctors' surgery and for local businesses in Millar Court in particular.

John proposed the new reduced parking charge at the Warwick Area Committee on Tuesday evening, and this was backed by all other county councillors present.
