Nigel Rock and John Whitehouse are supporting the 10:10 campaign and recently met with Lib Dem parliamentary spokesman Simon Hughes MP. John Whitehouse is the Lib Dem environment spokesman at Warwickshire County Council. The 10:10 campaign encourages both organisations and individuals to try to reduce their carbon footprint by 10% in 2010.

Nigel has been monitoring his carbon footprint since 2005 and has succeeded in making carbon savings of more than 50%. His savings have been made by reduced car mileage, purchase of a hybrid car, increased insulation at home, moving to a renewable energy tariff and simply turning things off when not needed. Nigel has also been able to reduce his fuel bills and carbon by switching from oil heating to gas.

Nigel says: "I have recorded my energy consumption for a number of years, so was able to make this comparison. I try to combine journeys when I can, but I see that transport is still the biggest slice of my carbon output. Living in a rural area with poor public transport links limits people's ability to use public transport."
