Another Stunning Lib Dem Local By-Election Win

Celebrating another local success!

The Liberal Democrats achieved another stunning win by-election locally on Thursday, capturing the Stratford Alveston district and town council seats previously held by the Conservatives.

District council election result:

Hugh Philip Chatwin (Green Party) 58 votes

Anthony James Cronin (Liberal Democrat) 888 votes (elected)

Lynda Organ (The Conservative Party Candidate) 834 votes

David Talbot (The Labour Party Candidate) 111 votes

The electorate for the Alveston ward is 6079. Turnout for this election was 31.2%. Turnout for the last contested District election at Alveston in 2008 was 48.28%.

The current political make-up of the District Council's 53 seats is now:

Conservatives - 30

Liberal Democrats - 20

Independents - 3

The result for the Stratford town council by-election was:

Ian Frank Fradgley (Liberal Democrat) 1028 votes (elected)

Drene Holmes (The Conservative Party Candidate) 694 votes

David Talbot (The Labour Party Candidate) 126 votes

Turnout was 30.8%.

The by-elections followed the sad and unexpected death of Cllr Vince Seaman (Conservative) in October.
